Doctorate Title: Triage and Multi Casualty Incidents.
Doctorate Description: The first research question will be: “Are the current triage methods effective?”
The Part I will cover the definition of cultural areas, their demography, their life expectancy, their emergency medical systems and their common major incidents around the world. The Part I will also provide a historical approach of the different types of triage methods and its evolution.
Having the definitions from the Part I, the Part II will describe the common medical emergencies presented in the most common major incidents, their immediate emergency care and their definitive care.
The second research question is will be: “Is it possible to use the same triage method in different types of major incidents in different cultural areas?”
My aim is to challenge the clinical and non-clinical judgement primary, secondary and tertiary triage systems, testing them in different scenarios, and taking into consideration over-triage and under-triage and its consequences.
