Doctorate Title: The clinical utility of ultrasound for paramedics.
Doctorate Description: This project aims to investigate the utility of point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) by paramedics in the out-of-hospital setting for both medical and traumatic pathologies. Utilising the planned rollout of ultrasound to paramedics in a jurisdictional ambulance service, this project will examine; i) The education and training requirements for paramedics performing POCUS. ii) The systems of governance required for a successful POCUS program. iii) A comparison of paramedic interpretation of images with expert reviewer interpretation.
