Doctorate Title: The role of the law in the professionalisation of paramedics in Australia.
Doctorate Description: This thesis examines the role of the law in the professional development of Paramedicine in Australia and considers if the law can facilitate the professional development of paramedics in Australia. It considers if the law provides coherence between paramedic professionalisation and the practice of professionalism, what challenges the law may pose to paramedic professional development and offers a comparison between the Australian regulatory model and the UK regulatory model to identify strengths and weaknesses in each regulatory model with regard to each model's capacity to facilitate the professional development of Paramedicine.
