Doctorate Title: Understanding the process of non-conveyance in ambulance services: A mixed methods study to inform improvements to patient safety.

Doctorate Description: I am looking at the process of non-conveyance to see how it is done in the real world. This is quite different from most approaches to safety which seek to look at the small number of cases that don't go to plan - they work backwards from the outcome of an incident to figure out what happened but I'm looking prospectively to see how it happens. I'm particularly interested in the socio-cultural aspects of the process. My main study will be participatory ethnography.
