Doctorate Title: Integrating Mental health support in Partnership with Ambulance Clinicians, for enabling time-to-Talk (IMPACT): A co-produced multi-phase study.
Doctorate Description: This research seeks to involve ambulance staff, the public and ambulance patients in developing confidential time-to-talk and reflect sessions at work. These sessions would then be integrated into everyday work as a mandatory element of paramedic practice. This approach would remove the prevailing stigma associated with disclosure and help-seeking for mental ill health from organisational support and provide the most vulnerable staff with an opportunity to ask for help if needed. A programme of work will develop our understanding of whether this is feasible and acceptable to this under-served staff group and whether this approach ultimately results in improved workforce wellbeing and safer patient care.
